It is also known as a Complete Blood Count (CBC). Thyroid Profile: A thyroid profile is a blood test that measures the levels of various hormones produced by the thyroid gland. The thyroid gland is located in the neck and produces hormones that help regulate various bodily functions, such as metabolism, heart rate, and body temperature. A thyroid profile typically includes the measurement of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), thyroxine (T4), and triiodothyronine (T3) levels. TSH is produced by the pituitary gland and stimulates the thyroid gland to produce T4 and T3. ERYTHROCYTE Sedimentaion Rate (ESR): Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), also known as sedimentation rate (sed rate), is a blood test that measures how quickly red blood cells settle at the bottom of a tube over a certain period of time. The ESR test is a non-specific indicator of inflammation, meaning it can be elevated in a variety of conditions such as infections, autoimmune diseases, and certain cancers. During an ESR test, a small amount of blood is drawn and placed in a tall, thin tube. The tube is then placed upright and allowed to stand for a specified amount of time. The distance that the red blood cells have fallen to the bottom of the tube is measured and reported as the ESR value. Iron Profile: Iron profile is a blood test that measures the levels of iron and related parameters in the blood. It is usually ordered by a healthcare provider to evaluate a person's iron status and to help diagnose and monitor conditions related to iron deficiency or iron overload. The iron profile typically includes measurements of serum iron, total iron-binding capacity (TIBC), transferrin saturation, and ferritin. Serum iron measures the amount of iron in the blood, while TIBC measures the amount of iron that can be bound to proteins in the blood.
